Decision Making

I thought the class activity we had on decision making was very interesting. We could observe many types of different behavior in the class. First, I just would like to thank the professor because he was very nice to us.
I did not participate that much in this class activity because I am shy, but I am the "compromise" type.
I think it is funny because it is in the difficult situation like this that you really discover people. We could observe that a few people were the "compete to win" type and did not want to listen other ideas, which I think was annoying.
I think the class handled the conflict well as we finally agreed on the same solution without insulting each other. Most of us were respectful to each other and everybody had the opportunity to gave his opinions.

Eggs Activity

As a group, we had to drop an egg from approximately 10 feet without breaking the egg. Each group had the same materials, which were: 8 straws and some tape. I think we really communicated well as a group. Before the time started we knew what we wanted to do, and to be sure that of all the members understood we draw the steps on paper.
We were not agree on the same strategy at first, but then we convinced each others. Our strategy was to rub all the sides of the egg, specially the bottom. This way, when the egg would fall, the bottom would be thick enough to not break.
I think we succeed because we communicated and practiced before the time start. We would have failed if we did not practice and exchange our ideas.
I think in any situation, the members of the group need to be in synergy with each other, and especially let the others explain their strategy. Finally, it is important to work fast, especially when there is a limited time.
